The Edge Secure Network feature is still under development, but similar to other VPN services, when it’s turned on, the traffic coming in and out of the browser will be encrypted, preventing internet services from spying on your browsing behavior and information or hackers from stealing your information. In addition, the service will allow users to hide their public IP address and location using a virtual IP address. Although the service is free for Microsoft Edge users, it’s limited to 1GB per month, and you will be required to use a Microsoft account to use the VPN service. Edge Secure Network is still under development, but when it rolls out, you will be able to use it from the “Settings and more” menu and select the “Secure Network” option. Once the VPN is turned on, you will have to sign in with a Microsoft account, and then you will notice a shield icon letting you know the Edge Secure Network feature is enabled.
