Many sites have referred that Windows Blue will be Microsoft’s next operating system, or Windows 9. This wasn’t true from day one and today Mary Jo Foley at All About Microsoft, confirms that the software giant will officially name its forthcoming upgrade “Windows 8.1”. Apparently a tweet from Roman L. shows a screenshot of a new Windows Blue build 9375 (image above) — if you remember this is a higher build number from the last week leak (9364) –, and it reads: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro, version 6.3 (Build 9375.0.x86fre.fbl_partner_out14.130328.1742). According to Mary, Microsoft will continue to call this version “Windows 8” even after the company releases the Windows 8.1 upgrade, even for Windows RT, Microsoft will refer it to “Windows RT 8.1”. Thus far there isn’t any indication that could suggest if the company will be charging to upgrade to 8.1. Also it has been said by Tami Reller, Windows Chief Financial Officer, that Windows 8 will have multiple versions. As such we could expect an 8.2, 8.3 and so on versions of the new operating system, also meaning that we are far away from Windows 9.
